Experience
From July 2023 to July 2026, I worked as a Frontend Engineer and Manager of the Clerk Docs at Clerk. Building the team from the ground up to four people, I wore many hats: part product manager, part architect, part content engineer, and part evangelist, leading major docs initiatives and evolving the systems that powered 500+ pages of documentation across 20+ SDKs — including Next.js, React, TanStack, Expo, Astro, Nuxt, and Go. For most of my tenure, I operated independently or with one other teammate, leading the team with high autonomy across architecture, infrastructure, and delivery. What you see currently in production, I've had some part in almost every piece and file.
My impact extended beyond a typical content role; I found the most excitement in the engineering aspect of building and evolving the architecture, tooling, and pipelines that powered the docs. The project I enjoyed most was scaling Clerk's reference documentation generation system, enabling nearly half of the docs to be generated programmatically. I also enjoyed contributing to a suite of custom MDX components that enabled richer interactive experiences while simplifying authoring for contributors. I built GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for automated validation and publishing checks, and a user feedback system from scratch that routed authenticated feedback to Linear and paired with PostHog analytics to inform information architecture decisions.
I always kept at least one major initiative in progress alongside day-to-day work to keep the docs propelling forward. I scoped out and delivered countless projects, including three IA reworks, multiple full-site content audits, and many rewrites of entire sidebar sections. That pace pushed me to become a product expert across Clerk's authentication platform, which made the engineering and validation work that much sharper.
While I loved leading the docs team, my passion for product work drove me to proactively seek out opportunities to contribute directly to product code beyond the docs platform. I worked on the Clerk Dashboard's migration from Next.js Pages Router to App Router, implementing TanStack Query to improve data fetching, caching, and state synchronization. And as with every new or updated feature routed through the Docs team before launch, my favourite part of the job was validating APIs, SDK workflows, and frontend applications end-to-end — surfacing bugs and collaborating with engineering to drive improvements across the Clerk API and Clerk Dashboard.
Philosophy
Before tech, I spent years chasing veterinary medicine — two Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Chemistry, two years as a collegiate writing fellow (teacher's assistant) and scientific writing tutor, and two years working in gold-standard animal hospitals staying current with published veterinary research. That background shapes how I work today: I absorb information quickly and naturally gravitate toward becoming a product expert, whatever the product happens to be.
My tenacity stems from surviving a very adverse childhood. That experience shaped how I move through the world — I lead with kindness, deep empathy, and a stubborn, unbreakable optimism. We're all living life for the first time, and I think that deserves more grace than people usually give it.
I'm comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where I can be fluid and take on whatever role is needed. When I spot a gap in the product, I take ownership of the problem and work to close it — I'd rather be the person who tries and sometimes falls short than the person who hands it off. I champion authenticity, positivity, empathy, and being genuinely helpful in every interaction. I believe connection is the purpose of life, and that genuine relationships are the foundation of a healthy, productive company culture. I'm also a perfectionist who loves the grind — I want to keep growing into the best version of the engineer, and the person, I can be.
